New campus opens doors to the future
The new Fountainhead College of Technology campus opened its doors for business last week at its new location in west Knoxville near Interstate 40/75 and Pellissippi Parkway. Over 200 students are currently enrolled in the college's eight technology-focused programs.
The new campus is spacious and modern with larger classrooms and labs, a larger library resource center and student lounge.
The school has a dedicated Testing Center, where students and non-students can test for leading technology certifications, many of which are embedded into the curriculums. Fountainhead College is a CompTIA Authorized Academy Partner, as well as an authorized Pearson Vue and Prometric Test Center.
"This is a watershed moment in the history of Fountainhead College," said Richard Rackley, the school CEO. "We are bringing our students closer to where the tech-focused jobs are, and we are now able to bring our considerable expertise in IT, cybersecurity and health information directly into Knoxville's technology community. Moving our campus west couldn't come at a better time, given the growth and need for a skilled and tech savvy workforce."
Marty Rogers, Fountainhead's president explained, "Our graduates are very much in demand from local employers because they know that graduates receiving a degree from Fountainhead have the immediate skills, certifications and hands-on training they need to get the job done."
Fountainhead College of Technology offers programs that are in-demand in the technology industry and has a long and distinguished history of putting our students first. The college offers associate degrees in Health Information, Electronics, Information Technology and Computer Programming, plus highly sought-after bachelor degrees in Application Development, Electronic Wireless Communication and Network Security and Forensics.
Students in the Network Security and Forensics bachelor's degree program, for example, are building a data center that simulates through virtual networks an authentic corporate network, and they now have the necessary room to house the school's servers and cyber defense equipment.
The new campus is located in the epicenter of the Knoxville-Oak Ridge technology corridor at 10208 Technology Drive. An Open House will be held in early spring. The college still owns its former 33,000 square-foot campus on Tazewell Pike, which has been renamed Fountain City Commons and which is available for lease and possible theatrical activities in the 285-seat state-of-the art auditorium.
Fountainhead College is one of only 11 Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance (CyberSecurity) Education (CAEIAE) nationwide that grant all six certifications that meet standards from the National Security Agency's (NSA) Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS). This program is the only cybersecurity bachelor's degree offered by a CAEIAE in Tennessee, and the only college in East Tennessee that offers all six national certifications offered by the NSA.
