Agriculture & Food Security: InfraGard meeting

infragard_IMA_logo1-smKnoxville InfraGard Chapter Meeting

Agriculture and food security will be the topic of this InfraGard Knoxville chapter meeting on Thursday, July 11 from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm at Fountainhead College.

Our speaker will be Dr. Ray Burden, Jr., from the University of Tennessee, who will speak about potential threats to our country's agricultural mechanisms. Bring your brown bag lunch and join us. As always, the FBI Cyber Squad will bring a brief update.

The Food and Agriculture Sector is a complex production, processing, and delivery system whose compromise could impact us all. Because of the open nature of many portions of the Food and Agriculture Sector, attacks against our Nation’s food or agricultural infrastructure or using its resources as weapons could have a devastating impact on public health and the economy. Recently back from providing training in Guam, Dr. Burden has interesting examples of how we might not be aware of how much we can be affected by attacks on this sector, and what is being done to protect it.

Dr. Burden is the Associate Director for the Center of Agriculture and Food Security and Preparedness at the University of Tennessee. The Center provides training to support protection of agriculture and the food supply from terrorist threats and the promotion of safer food production and processing practices.
