October is National Cybersecurity Month in the U.S.
The October flower is Marigold, a hardy and edible herb and medicine, also known as Calendula, summer bride, Mary bud, bull’s eyes, and husbandman’s dial. The latter stems from it turning its head to follow the sun.
October contains the national day, independence day, or similar, of several nations: Austria, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Nigeria, Portugal, Spain, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Taiwan, Turkey, Turkmenistan.
October 2: Birth anniversary of Mohandas Mahatma Gandhi, who, more than any other single individual, freed India from the rule of the British. Independence was achieved in 1947.
