BC207 Linux Fundamentals

3 Semester Credit Hours

The Basic Linux skills needed to perform administrative tasks in the latest SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server are presented in this course.  Major topics covered include: Linux basics and Enterprise Server installation, using the desktop, locating and using help resources, managing directories and files, working with Linux shell, editing text files, using the command line interface, understanding processes, jobs and run levels, managing the network configuration, managing network services, managing security, and hardware basics. Labs consist of assigned practice, projects and/or case studies relating to topics covered. Course contains 2 semester credit hours (30 clock hours) of lecture and 1 semester credit hour (30 clock hours) of laboratory work. Prerequisite: BC204
