4 Semester Credit Hours

Magnetism, electromagnetism, motor action, generator action, transformer action and magnetic induction are presented.  Components used in AC circuits are covered. This course also presents the theory of alternating current (AC) and AC circuits containing resistors, capacitors and inductors.  It  includes a study of nonresonant and resonant filters.  Algebra and trigonometry needed for solving AC circuits is presented. Lab projects are assigned to enhance understanding of AC circuits. Course contains 45 clock hours of lecture (3 semester credit hours) and 30 clock hours of lab (1 semester credit hour). Prerequisite: BC204
