BE203 Solid State Devices and Circuits

Solid-state amplifying devices process and/or amplify intelligence. This course presents DC and AC analysis of amplifier circuits. The characteristics of voltage and power amplifiers, classes of operations, amplifier configurations and coupling methods are covered. Circuits studied include bipolar junction transistor, field effect transistors, vacuum tubes (limited), and operational amplifiers. Basic semi-conductor physics is included. Amplifier labs are assigned to enhance understanding of course content. Course contains 37.5 clock hours of lecture (2.5 semester credit hours) and 15 clock hours of lab (0.5 semester credit hour). Prerequisite: BE202
