3 Semester Credit Hours
This course is designed to provide the student with a basic understanding of numbering systems and BCD codes used in computers, the characteristics of logic gates and Boolean algebra, the types of flip-flops and their applications in counters and registers, and analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters. Students will also obtain a basic understanding of the Parallax basic stamp micro-controller. Lab projects are assigned to enhance understanding of logic systems, flip-flop circuits, and converters. Course contains 2 semester credit hours (30 clock hours) of lecture and 1 semester credit hour (30 clock hours) of laboratory work.
