IE301 Sensing and Control Devices and Circuits

3 Semester Credit Hours

Automated systems use sensors to measure variables and actuators to control processes. This course provides the student with a basic understanding of sensors, transducers, actuators and controllers. Monitoring and controlling motion, position, force, pressure, level, flow, heat, light, thickness, radiation, humidity and time are presented.  Electronic power supplies are also covered. Lab projects are assigned to enhance understanding of sensing devices and circuits.  Prereq. First Semester ET. Course contains 30 clock hours of lecture (2 semester credit hours) and 30 clock hours of lab (1 semester credit hour).
