3 Semester Credit Hours
This course serves as an introduction to medical coding to include diagnoses and procedure coding and the applicable reference materials. In addition to the overview, students will apply basic coding principles and develop a further un-derstanding of anatomy, physiology and disease processes of the human body. Labs consist of assigned practice and projects relating to topics covered. Course contains 2 semester hours (30 clock hours) of lecture and 1 semester credit hour (30 clock hours) of laboratory work.
