5 Semester Credit Hours
This course teaches the radiological fundamentals that provide a foundation of applied knowledge and skills for radiological protection. This course includes the following topics: Unit Analysis and Conversion; Physical Sciences; Nuclear Physics; Sources of Radiation; Radioactivity and Radioactive Decay; Interaction of Radiation with Matter. Prereq: None. Course contains 3 semester credit hours (45 clock hours) of lecture and 2 semester credit hour (60 clock hours) of laboratory work. This course supports the Radiological Protection Technology program by providing fundamental basics necessary to have an understanding of radiological protection.
