3 Semester Credit Hours
This course teaches the principles and practices taken by a Radiological Control Technician when an abnormal or emergency condition arises. This includes personnel decontamination, considerations for first aid, and other radiological incidents or emergencies. This includes laboratory work to apply the practical skills associated with each of the different areas. Prereq: RP101 Radiological Fundamentals I and RP102 Radiological Fundamentals II, RP201 Radiological Detection Instrumentation, RP202 Radiological Work Control, and RP203, Radiological Respiratory Protection. Course contains 1 semester credit hour (15 clock hours) of lecture and 2 semester credit hours (60 clock hours) of laboratory work. This course supports the Radiological Protection Technology program by providing the student an understanding of how to respond in the event of a radiological emergency, how to attend to injured personnel from a radiological standpoint, and how to safely decontaminate a victim of a radiological event.
