SYA403 Operating Systems

4 semester credit hours

In order to develop intermediate level information systems’ problem solving skills, a  more in-depth analysis of topics such as: memory management, processor management, concurrent processes, file management, network organization concepts, network function management, security and ethics and system management are presented.  The history, design goals, device management, file management, and user interface are reviewed from the context of the operating systems: DOS, Linux, UNIX and Windows.  Prereq. BC205. Labs consist of assigned practice, projects and/or case studies relating to topics covered. Course contains 3 semester credit hours (45 clock hours) of lecture and 1 semester credit hour (30 clock hours) of laboratory work.
