An exploration and analysis of major themes and events in the political, cultural, social, economic and intellectual history of the United States from 1900 to 1950. Topics include the Wright brother’s first flight, Prohibition, The Great Depression and World War I. Course contains 3 semester credit hours (45 clock hours) of lecture and 1 semester credit hour (30 clock hours) of laboratory work.

This course explores the integrity, security processes, data retrieval and electronic health data management as it relates to protected health information (PHI). Electronic auditing will also be covered. IE301 Introduction to PLCs, Control Devices and Circuits

3 Semester Credit Hours

This course provides the student with a basic understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers and the components they govern. PLCs use sensors to measure variables and actuators to control processes. Monitoring and controlling motion, position, force, pressure, level, flow, heat, light, thickness, radiation, humidity and time are presented. Electronic power supplies are also covered. Lab projects are assigned to enhance understanding of sensing devices and circuits. Course contains 30 clock hours of lecture (2 semester credit hours) and 30 clock hours of lab (1 semester credit hour). Prerequisites: BE203, CF201, CF304

IE302 Control Systems and PLC’s

3 Semester Credit Hours

Control of industrial processes is often the function of a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Number systems and digital logic functions necessary to understand PLC operation and programming will be introduced. Students will learn the functions of the PLC and how to input programs into the PLC. The types of process control, as well as analog, digital, and electromechanical controllers, are introduced. Applications requiring logic circuits, counting circuits and timer circuits are presented. Lab projects are assigned to enhance understanding PLC control. Course contains 30 clock hours of lecture (2 semester credit hours) and 30 clock hours of lab (1 semester credit hour). Prerequisite: IE301

IE303 Control Systems and PLCs II

3 Semester Credit Hours

This second PLC course continues developing an understanding of the PLC. Presented are practical control applications of monitoring and controlling using the PLC. Relays, starters, switches, sensors, transducers, actuators and controllers are discussed in conjunction with PLC monitor and control systems. Lab projects are assigned to provide experience using the PLC. Allen-Bradley Micro-logic software is used for the PLC courses. Course contains 30 clock hours of lecture (2 semester credit hours) and 30 clock hours of lab (1 semester credit hour). Prerequisite: IE302
